Dry Brushing

Posted by in Skin Care Tips on February 21, 2014 . .

My New Favourite thing!!

Well I’m sure everybody knows that our skin is the largest organ we have, and the most important when it comes to eliminating toxic waste... Did you also know that the skin is the last to receive nutrients in the body, yet the first to show signs of imbalance or deficiency? How do you detoxify, nourish, and increase circulation, and stimulate your body’s lymphatic system all at once? Dry Brush.....

Dry brushing is a must to include in your daily routine.. If done correctly it should take between 10 -15 minutes to brush your whole body, this is not something you want to rush, but any time dry brushing is better than not doing it at all.. Some benefits include:

  • Reducing cellulite
  • Stimulates circulation
  • Cleansing of the lymphatic system
  • Removal of dead skin layers
  • Stimulates the hormone and oil-producing glands
  • Tightening of the skin preventing premature aging
  • Improved Muscle tone
  • Improves the function of the nervous system
  • Aids in digestion
  • Strengthens the immune system

What to look for in a Dry Brush

When choosing a dry brush look for natural bristles something softer at first while your body gets used to it, then you can move to something a bit coarser. Remember you need to be able to reach your whole body, so unless you have a partner willing to fry brush you, get a longer handle!

MY TECHNIQUE

When dry brushing I start with my feet and travel up to my legs, I spend a bit more time on my buttocks, hip and thighs, as the areas are prone to cellulite, and this is known to help eliminate Cellulite. Then I do my abdomen arms neck and back. I always brush towards my heart stroking the same spot about 5 or 6 times, unless by my abdomen where I do light circular motions. Spending a bit more time on the rougher areas, soles of the feet, knees and elbows can only help get that skin softer faster. I always avoid my face and sensitive areas where skin may be bruised or broken. It’s always good to shower off right after, and the key trick to the best possible stimulation for your body is to turn the water as hot as you can handle for a few seconds then as cold as you can handle for 3 or 4 times, this will stimulate blood circulation, bringing more blood to the outer layers of the skin. You will feel amazing after your first treatment! Don’t forget to follow up with one of our 3 body lotions, your skin will thank you!
